This article, from CNet News, asserts that 99% of people from 18-24 have profiles on social networking sites. I have an extremely hard time beliving this to be the case.
Think about what that means – only 1 in 100 young adults (presumably Americans) lacks a social network profile. What other things do 99% of young adults have or do? Very few, in my opinion.
To be fair, the CNet article cites a study by Pace University and something called the “Participatory Media Network” (link intentionally ommitted). Clearly this Participatory Media Network stands to benefit by perpetrating the “fact” that 99% of young adults use social media.
My best guess on usage numbers? 80%, tops.
